Two weeks to go!

As you may know our matriarch, Nanny May O`Neill, passed away on October 8th, and while we will miss her immensely we are determined that October Seis Athy 2011 will go ahead as planned, in her memory. Nanny May will always remain a central part of our lives and knowing her as we do, it`s what she would have expected. So all remains on track for a mega weekend of music, fun and tons of entertainment. Tickets for our Rocking Horse are selling well and accommodation is getting scarce, so if you're not booked up get on it!
This year's Seis will feature The Roving Crows, who are in the middle of a hectic tour of Ireland, tryFi, The Crossons (Making their debut), Delton Ramblers, The Tunesmiths and of course the October Seis Band, among many, many more acts. So why don't you come on down and celebrate the life of Nanny May with us!

OctoberSeis 2011 Launch

The launch of O'Neills OctoberSeis on Friday 8th July 2011 in St. Vincents Hospital Athy was a tremendous success. In attendance were Jack Wall TD, Sean O'Fearghaill TD, local historian Frank Taafe and Athy Mayor Cllr. Richard Daly.
Performing on the day were Kevin, Maureen, Joe, Martin, Seán & Ellen O'Neill. A packed activities room which included a number of patients, visitors and the grand dame herself May O'Neill danced and clapped to the music. Mr. Jack Wall TD said it was wonderful to see the O'Neills returning home to perform for such a worthy cause and he  had fond memories of their father Joe O'Neill and his Stardust Band playing around the town and also for the teaching of music in Athy. Mr. Sean O'Fearghail TD said any occasion which gives something back to the community, as the OCTOBERSEIS will, is to be applauded and pledged his support in any way possible, Matron Helen Dreelan said she was thankful to all whom attended particularly our public representatives and especially those O'Neills whom had travelled from afar for the launch. Mr. Frank Taafe reminded  the audience  of the contribution the O'Neills had made to music in Athy and that he used always enjoy historical chats with Joe O'Neill about Athy. Mayor Richard Daly in his speech said that it was a remarkable and unique way for the O'Neill family to remember their father and also for to put the wonderful work which is done in St. Vincents Hospital on centre stage. He then officially launched THE O'NEILLS OCTOBER SEIS and looked forward to a wonderful bank holiday weekend in  October to enjoy the music and the craic for such a worthy cause.
