A chairde,

Spring is in the air and the promise of summer is around the corner but there’s only one thing on peoples’ minds...October Seis 2012 and the eagerly anticipated return to the beautiful county of Cavan. Well Foireann October Seis 2012 have been slaving away tirelessly for the last few months and finally the wait is over and all the press speculation can be put to bed. After the curtain raiser that is the All Ireland Fleadh 2012 in Cavan Town in August, the main musical event of the year will take place in October. Today the countdown officially begins to October Seis 2012...

Again the entertainment will extend over three nights of the October bank holiday weekend. The "warm-up" event will be held in The Bellamont Arms (otherwise known as "Franks" to the locals) on Friday, 26 October. This is planned as an impromptu gig with opportunities for everyone to get involved or otherwise to just enjoy the craic.

The main event of October Seis 2012 will be held on Saturday, 27 October in Gallonray House, the local community and arts centre in Maudabawn. Typically the Seis plays host to more than forty musicians including locals and friends of the O’Neill family. Previous years featured acts such as 2011 Irish Music Award winners The Roving Crows, tryFi, Delton Ramblers, The Tunesmiths and of course the October Seis Band. As acts confirm their attendance, we will be updating the October Seis website as well as our Twitter and Facebook accounts so make sure to sign up and keep in touch

The October Seis 2012 "wind-down" event will be held on Sunday, 28 October in Errigal Country House Hotel in Cootehill. This will be an opportunity to finish off the weekend in a relaxed environment as long distance visitors prepare for the journey home.

The standard has been set high by previous seisanna so we hope we can replicate that in 2012 - with your attendance and participation there is no reason why we can't!

We have arranged a special rate for accommodation for the weekend with our friends in Errigal Country House Hotel so be sure to mention October Seis when booking. There are also alternative accommodation options listed on our website http://octoberseis.com/Accommodation/tabid/59/Default.aspx.

October Seis fanatics can also express their interest in limited edition polo shirts through the October Seis website for collection on the weekend. So get in your word NOW to avoid disappointment! http://octoberseis.com/PoloShirts/tabid/87/Default.aspx. All funds raised over the course of the weekend will go to Maudabawn Community Alert. Maudabawn Community Alert spearheads manyinitiatives to enhance community spirit and help support the vulnerable in our society.

If you have any photos or videos of previous years you would like us to add to the website, or indeed if you’ve any suggestions or feedback for us feel free to send them to your October Seis team at feedback@octoberseis.com.

Nanny May will always remain a central part of our lives and knowing her as we do, it`s what she would have expected. So all remains on track for a mega weekend of music, fun and tons of entertainment. Tickets for our Rocking Horse are selling well and accommodation is getting scarce, so if you're not booked up get on it!
This year's Seis will feature The Roving Crows, who are in the middle of a hectic tour of Ireland, tryFi, The Crossons (Making their debut), Delton Ramblers, The Tunesmiths and of course the October Seis Band, among many, many more acts. Mr. Frank Taafe reminded  the audience  of the contribution the O'Neills had made to music in Athy and that he used always enjoy historical chats with Joe O'Neill about Athy. Mayor Richard Daly in his speech said that it was a remarkable and unique way for the O'Neill family to remember their father and also for to put the wonderful work which is done in St. Vincents Hospital on centre stage. Beginning in 2005, OctoberSeis started as a way for the O’Neill family of Athy, Co. Kildare to pay tribute to their father Joe O’Neill, a gifted musician and dedicated band leader of the Stardust Orchestra which brought his particular brand of music to almost every dance venue in Ireland from the early 1940’s to the 1960’s.
Joe founded the CBS Brass and Reed Orchestra in Athy which is still going strong today.

OctoberSeis first started in Naas when this gifted family got together with friends and initiated what has proven to be a very enjoyable musical extravaganza of many genres of music. The festival moves annually to areas where members of the O'Neill family live or have strong connections.
